Privacy Policy

Dew Crew ("the app") is developed by Bruce Wolfson ("we," "us"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Dew Crew.

The short version

Dew Crew doesn't have a server, doesn't collect analytics, doesn't show ads, and doesn't ask you to create an account. Your to-do lists live on your device and sync between your own devices through your personal iCloud account. We never see them. If you choose to use location reminders, your phone's location is checked on your device only, against places you've saved — it is never sent to us.

What data Dew Crew handles, and where it goes

Your to-do lists and items. The lists you create, the items in them, due dates, the places you've saved for location reminders (a name, a map position, and an alert radius), simple counts of your own activity such as how many items you completed on a given day, and which Crew character you've assigned are stored on your device and synced across your own devices using Apple's CloudKit — specifically, your private CloudKit database, part of your personal iCloud account. This data is encrypted and accessible only to you, signed in with your own Apple ID. We do not have access to it, cannot read it, and it is never transmitted to any server we operate — because we don't operate one.

Voice input. When you add a to-do by speaking — either through the in-app microphone button or by asking Siri — your speech is converted to text using Apple's on-device Speech framework and Apple's Siri system, respectively. Dew Crew does not record, store, or transmit your voice audio. Text generated from your speech is used only to create the to-do item you asked for. Siri interactions are also subject to Apple's own privacy practices, since Siri processes those requests entirely outside of Dew Crew's app process.

Notifications. If you set a due date, Dew Crew schedules a local reminder directly on your device using Apple's notification system. This does not involve any push notification server operated by us — it's entirely local to your phone.

Location (optional). Dew Crew can remind you when you arrive somewhere you've saved — Home, Work, a store — for to-dos you've tagged with that place. This feature is entirely optional: nothing in the app requires it, and Dew Crew never touches your location unless you tag an item with a saved place.

• What's used: your device's location, read by iOS's Core Location framework, and only to work out whether you're near one of your saved places. That comparison happens on your device. Your location is not sent to us, not stored in a history, and not synced anywhere — only the saved places themselves (a name, a map position, and an alert radius) are stored, in the same private CloudKit database as your to-dos.
• When you're asked: the first time you tag an item with a saved place, iOS asks whether Dew Crew may use your location while the app is in use. Separately, and only if you tap the in-app prompt to enable it, iOS offers Always access, which lets a reminder arrive when you reach a saved place even though the app isn't open. iOS never offers "Always" as the first question — that two-step flow is Apple's rule, not ours. You can change or revoke either choice at any time in iOS Settings → Dew Crew → Location.
• What you get: one notification when you arrive at a saved place listing the to-dos tagged to it, and one follow-up about an hour later if you're still there. These are local notifications created on your device, not push notifications from a server.
• Address search: when you search for an address or place name while saving a location, your search text is handled by Apple's Maps search service, under Apple's own privacy practices. Dew Crew does not receive or keep a record of those searches.

Microphone permission. Dew Crew asks for microphone access so you can dictate to-dos. This permission is used only at the moment you tap the microphone button or speak to Siri; audio is not recorded or retained afterward.

Purchases. Dew Crew is free to use for 7 days; after that, continuing to use it requires a one-time $0.99 purchase. That purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store's payment system (StoreKit) — Dew Crew never sees, collects, or stores your payment details. The app only checks with Apple whether you've made the purchase, so it knows to unlock itself; it does not track or transmit any purchase history of its own.

What Dew Crew does not do

• No account creation or sign-in, beyond your existing Apple ID / iCloud (which Apple, not us, manages)
• No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs
• No advertising or ad tracking
• No sale or sharing of any data with third parties
• No access to your contacts, photos, or health data
• No collection, sale, sharing, or advertising use of your location — it is used on your device, only for the reminders you set up, and only if you choose to use them

Children's privacy

Dew Crew does not knowingly collect any information from children, since it does not collect any information at all beyond what's described above — which never reaches us.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes — for example, if a future version of Dew Crew adds a feature that changes how data is handled — this page will be updated and the date above will change accordingly.
